DATES:
Saturday
19 & Sunday 20 January 2008
Julia Wilson-Dickson spends an in-depth weekend with you on the ins
and outs of modern standard British English. There are discussions
about what you specifically require, what might be demanded of you
in the profession and a lot of technical work in order to achieve
this for you. Even the psychology of these changes will be examined.
As
with all our workshops you arrive at 9:30 on Saturday morning for
a 10:00am start. Julia Wilson-Dickson teaches formally for the morning
session, giving clear and informative guidelines using simple phonetics
and her own worksheets.
From lunchtime
onwards you are requested to speak at all times in the standard English
that you are adjusting to, as part of the beginning of your full immersion
in the accent. On Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday you will be
working from relevant texts and other approaches, such as word games,
enabling you to find a real familiarity with your own voice in the
new accent.
These weekends
are not just about work. We recognise you will be giving up your free
time, and to make sure the weekend is not all work, Pippa will be
creating something delicious in the kitchen. Included in the price
of this weekend you will have a working lunch on Saturday as well
as a delicious evening meal prepared for you on Saturday evening.
This gives you the opportunity to ensure you are able to stay in accent
for an extended period of time and see if the accent can be sustained,
or remains at all, with a glass or two of wine!
