Studio London - 2008
Northern Accents

DATES:
Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 May 2008

The Northern Accent weekend will be focusing on a Manchester Accent & the Yorkshire accent. You will receive a good grounding in both these accents as well as have comparative discussions about other Northern accents.

As with all our workshops you arrive at 9:30 on Saturday morning for a 10:00am start. Julia Wilson-Dickson teaches formally for the morning session, giving clear and informative guidelines using simple phonetics and her own worksheets.

During Saturday afternoon, you will be encouraged to work focusing on one accent whilst dedicating Sunday to the second. Throughout the weekend you will be working from relevant texts and using other approaches, such as word games, improvisation and listening to tapes.

It is well known that achieving a really real Lancashire or Yorkshire accent is very difficult for people coming from another accent base, but you will be asked to tackle the problems head-on.

These weekends are not just about work. We recognise you will be giving up your free time, and to make sure the weekend is not all work, Pippa will be creating something delicious in the kitchen. Including in the price of this weekend you will have a working lunch on Saturday as well as a delicious evening meal prepared for you on Saturday evening. This gives you the opportunity to ensure you are able to stay in accent for an extended period of time and see if the accent can be sustained, or remains at all, with a glass or two of wine!

Sunday starts at 10:00 and finishes at 4:00pm during which you will enjoy on of 2 Chalcot’s famous brunches and you can choose which accent you wish to use to accompany this delicious meal. Not easy, I promise you!

The combination of Julia's top quality teaching, Pippa's food and excellent company, you will not only learn masses but have a great laugh
