In 2008, we
are hosting our first Celtic weekend, these accents are close to
Julia's heart and this weekend will be focussing on the Southern
Central Scottish and the Southern Irish but other Scottish and Irish
accents will be discussed.
As with all
our workshops, you arrive at 9:30 on Saturday morning for a 10:00am
start. Julia Wilson-Dickson teaches formally for the morning session,
giving clear and informative guidelines using simple phonetics and
her own worksheets. This will continue in the afternoon looking
at the second accent. So nearly all of Saturday will be spent in
formal teaching. By mid-afternoon, you will be asked to choose an
accent you would like to remain in for the rest of the weekend when
talking informaly.
Again, as with
all our workshops we like to invite you to stay with us for dinner,
so you can remain in accent for an extended period of time. This
really allows you to discover the accent, feel truely comfortable
within it. It is very difficult to tell your own story whilst using
an accent which is not naturely your own.
Sunday will
start a little later (10;00am) and you will have the opportunity
to remain in both accents for the whole day, through text, improvisation
and word games. Again Pippa will be in the kitchen to provide a
delicious brunch in recognition that you are giving up your weekend
to join us.
With
maximum of 8 students in the each group, it will be hard work, but
also great fun.
