These American workshops are in big demand, so please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment.

Having a good American accent is really becoming an essential part of any actors’ repertoire, and this is the perfect way of getting excellent tuition at an affordable price. If you are thinking of doing the pilot season in the US or indeed any work on the other side of the Atlantic you should attend at least one of these weekends.

Which of the American accents is covered during this weekend? It is 'Broadcast American', sometimes known as 'college-educated N.E. USA' - the most regularly used American accent associated with films today. Regional USA accents will be discussed.

As with all our workshops, you arrive at 9:30 on Saturday morning for a 10:00am start. Julia Wilson-Dickson teaches formally for the morning session, giving clear and informative guidelines using simple phonetics and her own worksheets. This will be in more detail than can usually be done in a single one to one session.

From lunchtime onwards you are encouraged to speak at all times in accent, as part of the beginning of your full immersion in the accent. On Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday, using American texts and other tools, such as word games and improvisation, you will find a real familiarity with your own voice in the new accent.

These weekends are not just about work. We recognise you will be giving up your free time and to make sure the weekend is not all work, Pippa will be creating something delicious in the kitchen. Included in the price of this weekend you will have a working lunch on Saturday as well as a delicious evening meal prepared for you on Saturday evening. This gives you the opportunity to ensure you are able to stay in accent for an extended period of time and see if the accent is as good with or without a glass or two of wine! You will find it interesting to see if you can tell a good tale in an accent not your own!

Sunday starts at 10:00 and finishes at 4:00pm during which there will be a more in depth session on USA texts.

An American brunch will be served during Sunday, and accent practice continues over an all American bagel!

With the combination of Julia's top quality teaching, Pippa's food and excellent company, you will not only learn masses but have a great laugh.
